True Roots provides expert advice on international development issues as invited panelists and presenters at global events. As such, True Roots consultant Summer Lewis presented, along with Rotary Peace Fellow and Rotarian Jorge Meruvia, on the Global Peace Index and the Mexico Peace Index at the closing plenary session of the Rotary District 4185 Conference in Mérida, México. Summer and Jorge were selected in early 2016 by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) to serve as Global Peace Index Ambassadors.

IEP’s work aligns with Summer’s work and True Roots’ philosophy: peace is not simply the absence of violence, nor is it an esoteric concept that is unmeasurable. In order to help create peaceful societies, communities must be able to meet their needs and have economic and social development opportunities. And True Roots provides the tools and guidance to help make this happen.

IEP is a global research organization that has pioneered the empirical study of peace, most notably through the groundbreaking Global Peace Index. Individuals selected to participate in the Global Peace Index Ambassador Program receive training and resources to bring the empirical study of peace to cities around the world.
