“Entrepreneurship and Microfinance” Presentation, Rotary Presidential Peace Conference 2017

True Roots Consultant Summer Lewis was invited to speak at the Rotary Presidential Peace Conference during the Rotary International Convention in June 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Presidential Peace Conference featured keynote speakers Bernice A. King, chief executive officer of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, and Amina J. Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations. Together with non-profit leaders, policy makers, educators, and representatives from global institutes for economics, health, and peace, experts joined together to discuss sustainable peacebuilding.

Summer presented “Entrepreneurship and Microfinance: Proving Project Impact,” highlighting the connection between economic and community development, peace, and microfinance and Rotary’s involvement with economic and community development projects globally. Her presentation also provided a quick blueprint for planning and measuring the impact of an entrepreneurship project, based on her work as a consultant in project planning and monitoring and evaluation.

Summer is a Rotary Peace Fellow (University of Queensland, Australia, 2011-2012) and co-founder of True Roots Consulting Group. True Roots provides support to businesses, including Rotarians, in project planning, assessment, and monitoring and evaluation.
